Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between mindfulness and compliance with immunosuppressive therapy in patients with liver transplantation.
Materials and methods: This is a cross-sectional study of 175 liver transplant patients admitted to a university liver transplant center. Personal Information Form, The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) and The Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence Scale (ITAS) were used in data collection. The data analysis was performed with IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) Statistics 25.
Results: It was determined that the conscious awareness level of liver recipients was above the middle with 57.26±8.44, and the level of compliance with immunosuppressive treatment was above the middle with 9.98 ± 1.57. It is seen that there is a very strong positive correlation between the patients' mindfulness scale and the immunosuppressive treatment compliance scale, and this situation is also statistically significant (r=0.950, p < 0.005).
Conclusions: The concepts of BIF and ITAS are influenced by each other. In this context, a positive and significant correlation was found between BIF and ITAS. For this reason, it is recommended that mindfulness meditations be applied in these patient groups.
