Abstract

Aim: This study was conducted to examine postgraduate theses in nursing in terms of the frequency of the COVID-19 pandemic, the topics examined, and some variables.

Material-Method: The study was carried out using descriptive type and scanning model. The data obtained about the theses determined in line with the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 package program. The distribution of data is shown as mean and percentage values.

Results: 429 of the 1034 theses published between 2020-2022 were made in the field of nursing. In 35 of these theses, topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic were studied. 28.6% of theses were descriptive studies and 74.3% were master's thesis. 45.7% of the studies were carried out with nurses. All of the nurses in the studies were working in hospitals. It was seen that 11.4% of the theses were made at Manisa Celal Bayar University, 14.3% in Ankara, 31.4% of all theses had less than 100 samples and 77.2% of them used scales as a measurement tool. It was determined that the most examined variables in the studies were depression, stress, and burnout (n=3, n=3, n=2, respectively). Women's depression, stress, and COVID-19 fear levels were higher than men's; It has been observed that the negative perceptions of those who work in intensive care, those whose relatives are infected, and those who do not choose the profession willingly and lovingly are higher. As a result of the research, suggestions were made on developing training programs for nurses, improving and strengthening working hours and conditions.

Conclusion: Most of the theses that are the subject of the study were studied at the master's level and the study subjects are generally on stress, depression, and fear of COVID-19. In the studies examined, the negative perception of women and those working in intensive care was higher.
