Özet

This study aimed to reveal the effect of psychoeducational interventions applied to women with anxiety symptoms and fear of childbirth on the reduction of anxiety symptoms and fear of childbirth. For this meta-analysis study, PubMed, EBSCOhost, Web of Science, YÖK Thesis Center and Google Scholar databases were searched between October 2022 and January 2023 without any year limitation, and 10 studies were included in this meta-analysis. The data were synthesized by meta-analysis and narrative methods. This meta-analysis showed that educational interventions applied to women with fear of childbirth were effective in reducing fear of childbirth in pregnant women (SMD: -0.749, 95% CI: (-1.021)-(-0.478), Z: -5.411 p: 0.002, I2: 73,819). Psychoeducational interventions had a significant effect on the anxiety symptoms experienced by pregnant women in favor of the intervention group, and there was high heterogeneity between studies (SMD: -0.862, 95% CI: (-1.319)- (-0.404), Z: -3.690, p = 0.000, I2 = 80.755). In the subgroup analyzes, it was determined that the types of interventions were effective in reducing both anxiety symptoms and fear of childbirth. It has been observed that psychoeducational interventions applied to women who experience fear of childbirth and anxiety symptoms significantly reduce their fear of birth and anxiety symptoms, and in this case, they provide a more positive birth experience.
