Abstract

Aim: In this study, OGTT and awareness levels of pregnant women were investigated in the primary health care institution where preventive health services are available.

Method: The cross-sectional study was conducted with 150 pregnant women registered to a family health center between August and September 2021. The data were collected with the data collection form developed by the researchers. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and Chi-Square test in SPSS 21.00 program.

Findings: The average gestational age of the pregnant women was 23.02±9.35, (min:, max:) 71.30% did not receive antenatal care, 4.70% (n:7) of the care recipients had gestational diabetes in their previous pregnancies, 72.80% of them did not receive prenatal care. It was found that they did not want to have OGTT in their pregnancy. 24-28 days of 19.30% (n:29) of the pregnant women (n:62) who knew the test time. It was found that she could correctly indicate the gestational week.

Conclusion: It was determined that the knowledge level of pregnant women about OGTT was low. In order to increase awareness of diabetes in pregnancy and OGTT, trainings should be organized and brochures should be given to pregnant women, especially in primary health care services, and misinformation should be corrected by reporting the information pollution in the media to the relevant authorities.
