Abstract

Objective: In the study, it was aimed to examine the thoughts and individual perceptions of nurses and doctors working in the chronic wound care unit about functioning.

Methot: The case study method, one of the qualitative research patterns, was used. The working group consists of 6 nurses and 4 doctors. The sample group was formed by intensive sampling, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods. Semi-structured interview questions prepared by the researcher were used. The interviews were collected by the researcher by recording them on a voice recorder using the face-to-face interview technique. The purpose of the research, the principle of confidentiality and volunteerism were explained to the participants. In the analysis of the data, inductive content analysis technique was used. It has been read several times with the line-by-line reading technique. From the codes, the categories and then the themes were reached.

Result: According to the monthly rotation, the work of different assistants, the follow-up of outpatient and inpatient patients together was recorded negatively. Inexperienced-insufficient number of nurses, materials used specifically for wound care-poor device quality have been reported as significant obstacles. It was found as a positive result that teamwork is important and that there is a regularly functioning council.

Conclution: Evidence-based application guides and maintenance maps that will be used jointly are needed to eliminate problems.
